Kim has traveled the globe as a professional performer and through the years has enjoyed transitioning into a full time Director, Choreographer, and Educator. Kim loves creating unique, original, and inspiring work that leaves audiences wanting more!

What's New?

Kim has started off the fall season with a brand new job. She will be acting as the Interim Artistic Director for TexArts Theatre and Academy in Austin, Texas. As Interim Artistic Director, she serves as the chief executive of the arts organization that is responsible for the artistic vision of the theatre and academy. The season kicked off with a crowd pleaser :Elf  sparkles and brings Christmas cheer to one and all. Next up in the professional season is Tick, Tick Boom and Bye, Bye Birdie.   In NYC,  Kim continues teaching on the faculty at the world famous NYC dance studio, Broadway Dance Center. She is an Adjunct Dance Professor at Wagner College where she will be teaching advanced jazz, tap, and musical theatre styles tap and her fourth year at Marymount Manhattan College where she teaches tap, jazz, ballet, and musical theatre to the musical theatre department students. To conclude, she continues to Direct  shows for Celebrity X Cruises, where she will have the privilege of working on brand new shows on the stunning Celebrity ships.

Introduction:

My name is Kimberly Schafer, and I’m a professional Director, Choreographer, and Educator that resides in New York City. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Oklahoma City University with a Bachelor of Performing Arts in Dance Performance, and a Masters in Theatre Education/Directing from The Catholic University of America. I first moved to NYC to be a performer, which I have had many successful years of doing so which includes National Tours such as 42nd Street, off Broadway, Broadway Benefit shows, and even a commercial on a Time Square Billboard. Now my passion has switched to be on the creative team and education side. I followed my heart and realized I had made the right decision when I assisted Randy Skinner and Tommy Tune on the City Center Encores production of Lady Be Good. Since then, I have become Tommy Tune’s Dance Assistant for all his shows including the tour Chita and Tune: Just in Time with Chita Rivera. I’ve also had the honor of working side by side to recent Tony Award winner Andre De Shields in a production of Sophisticated Ladies. I am a proud member of SDC and AEA Unions.  

            As for being an Educator, I have taught all over the world. I am very experienced with College/University lifestyle and professional programs. Currently, I am an Adjunct Dance Professor at Marymount Manhattan College, Wagner College, and a teacher at Broadway Dance Center. In addition, I have taught and choreographed for CAP 21 Conservatory at Molloy University and The Catholic University of America. For both programs, I am one of their main Dance Professors that teach all styles of dance to various levels of musical theatre and dance majors. I pride myself in my versatility of teaching styles as well as my skills of teaching levels of training from beginners to professionals. The dance styles include jazz, tap, ballet, musical theatre jazz, contemporary/lyrical, and hip hop. Additionally, I have the honor of being a Director/Choreographer for the Award-winning Celebrity cruise lines part of the Royal Caribbean Corporation.  Last but certainly not least, she was featured in the magazine Shoutout Miami as a female Entrepreneur Artist to watch.
