"Kim is, truly, one of the best director/choreographers I’ve ever worked with. Her wisdom extends far past her (extremely versatile) knowledge of dance stylings and dance history; she has a firm grasp of the story intrinsic to good choreography, and passes that need and knowledge on to all of her students and performers. She is a storyteller through and through. More than that, Kim’s teaching methodologies are incredibly effective in their grounding and adaptability. Kim, while firm in pushing her students and performers to better themselves, is forever willing to listen, understand, and adapt to her artists’ needs. As someone who entered my academic career with little dance experience and, later, a severe hip injury, that was so very important to my growth and success. I grew more under Kim than under any other dance teacher or choreographer I’ve had. She taught me to adapt to my injury’s limitations; she pushed me beyond them, in fact, giving me confidence in my abilities and showing me that I could do far more than I previously thought. Her signature combination of boisterous encouragement, wit and humor, and fierce pushing of her students worked well for everyone within my classes and performances.
